Comic Review: The Goon Volume 1 Nothin But Misery

The Goon Volume 1 Nothin But Misery

The Goon Volume 1 Nothin But Misery

The Goon’s world is like a 1950’s mobster movie but with zombies, giant octopuses and other strange creatures. Eric Powell (The Hood, Incredible Hulk) has written and illustrated The Goon for Dark Horse with his own distinctive style.

The Goon and his buddy Franky are the muscle for their boss Labrazio who runs the city. If someone messes with Labrazio, owes him money or try’s anything you can guarantee that the Goon and Franky will be there to sort things out. But, the city is the changing and new players are starting to take over their turf. It’s the zombie priest and his army of undead.

This is a really fun comic, it doesn’t take itself to seriously and that is what makes it so great. The main characters are a mix of tough and goofy doling out beatings like candy. The artwork is bright and vibrant which adds to the fun beat-em up nature of the comic. When it comes down to it this comic is a good time that will have you laughing page after page.
