Queen and Country Movie in the works by 20th Century Fox

A Queen and Country live action movie is in the works and is being produced by 20th Century Fox. Queen and Country is comic series created by Greg Rucka (DC Comics Action Comics / Batman, Image Comic’s Lazarus) and published by Oni Press publication.  The series centers on spy Tara Chace who works for the Secret Intelligence Service (SIS) and her dealings with the politics and red tape of the agency and as well the dangers of her occupation.

So far Canadian actress Ellen Page has been cast for the lead role of Tara Chace. Page is not unfamiliar with playing a comic book character since she played the role of Kitty Pryde / Shadowcat in the X-men: Last Stand movie and will also reprise the character in the upcoming X-men: Days of the Future Past movie. It was announced in March 2014 that British director, Craig Viveiros, has been chosen to direct.

No date has been set for either the start of production or the film’s release.

The Punisher Volume 1

The Punisher Volume 1

This is the last solo series of the Punisher and in it something quite unexpected happens–he finds a partner. This Marvel series is written by Greg Rucka (Queen & Country, Wonder Woman) and illustrated by Marco Checchetto (Daredevil, Spider-Man).

A horribly tragic event takes place during a day that should be filled with blessings. A wedding is interupted by gun fire killing 30 of 31 people including the groom. The only survivor is U.S. Marine Sergeant Rachel Cole-Alves and she will not sit idly by. Soon her hunt for the killers of her husband and friends will cross paths with the Punisher.

A series that took a couple of issues before I really got behind it. After I did I began to appreciate what they were doing. A deep story line with many intersecting plots. Artwork that seems very real and expressive of emotions. Being that this was the last series, for now, we are very fortunate indeed.

Comic Review: The Punisher Enter The War Zone

The Punisher Enter The War Zone

The Punisher Enter The War Zone

With the avengers after The Punisher, is this one enemy that he can’t defeat. This Marvel series written by Greg Rucka (Queen & Country, Detective Comics) and illustrated by Carmine Di Giandomenico (Journey Into Mystery, Iron Man 2.0) is the end of the most recent Punisher run.

The Punisher’s recent accomplice is on trial for the killing of a police officer. With the public opinion of the Punisher at an all time low, people are looking for justice.  Unfortunately the Avengers agree and they’re looking to lock him up. With such powerful adversaries after the Punisher and the fact that he won’t kill them, can he survive. Or is this finally the end of the Punisher’s long career.

Great ending to the series, honestly didn’t see the whole Avengers thing coming. Each issue is the Punisher facing off against an individual member of the team leading up to a final battle. There is no Punisher title currently running so if you are looking for more of him check out the Thunderbolts series.
