Sweet Tooth Volume 1 Out Of The Deep Woods

Sweet Tooth is a new take on the post apocalyptic world. Jeff Lemire (Justice League Dark, Trillium) does the writing and illustrations for this Vertigo Comic.

Over a decade ago something called the affliction killed billions of people. There appeared to be a side affect from this. All children born after the affliction are a human/animal hybrid. Gus is one such child who’s nickname is sweet tooth. One day he is saved from two hunters by a man called Mr. Jepperd. He tells Gus of a place called “The Preserve” where his kind can be safe and promises to lead him there.

With sweet tooth it doesn’t take much to get you binge reading. Jeff Lemire’s usual artwork style really lends itself to the post apocalyptic world with it’s grainy, unkempt approach. With this type of setting you are always wondering where they will be going next. You look forward to new locations when mentioned in conversation. A good book that will reward your curiosity as the story unfolds.
